Cindy Barrie is a native Idahoan who loves the outdoors as much as her fine art. She spends much of her time gardening, and doing research for her artistic creations. All of her original designs are inspired by life experience and observation. Cindy comes from a family that is deeply blessed with artistic talent. Her mother is a seascape and wildlife artist, and her younger sister is a sculptor of fine pottery. Cindy's father is a master wood craftsman, and it is through a fascination for wood and carving that Cindy aquired her love of gourds. "Each gourd is an individual work of art, from the time it is a seed, continuing through the miraculous stages of growth as it changes and matures". Cindy uses a variety of mediums in her fine art to include; guilder's paste, acrylics, natural stains and dyes. Dramatic three dimensional effects are obtained through her mastery of deep relief carving, pyrography, and fret work. Her expertise is with native fish of Idaho as well as fish of the Northwest.
